  • He must obtain at least 67 points in his overall profile evaluation out of a maximum of 1200 points.
  • He must be proficient in English and/ or French language. For English language proficiency he must score a minimum of 6 in all the skill sets in IELTS exam.
  • The individual must select an occupation from the year’s NOC list and quote the unique job code in his application form.
  • The candidate must obtain a Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report to verify the degrees he obtained in his native country. The ECA report matches a candidate’s degrees with the corresponding degree issued by a Canadian University to judge the applicant’s depth of knowledge.
  • The applicant must possess at least 1 year of experience in the occupation selected from NOC list in the last 10 years of his service.
  • Lastly, the individual is required to submit his Expression of Interest (EOI) on the immigration department’s website.

How are Candidates Selected?

The Canadian Government follows the comprehensive ranking system to allot visas to prospective applicants. It evaluates profiles of every applicant and allots points depending upon a pre-determined criteria. It then puts all the initially shortlisted candidates in a pool. To provide an equal chance of selection it holds a draw, named Express Entry Draw through which it randomly allots visas to selected candidates. The shortlisted candidates are then sent Invitations to Apply for visas, to which they must reply within a stipulated time period.
